LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE
LEVEL
For this trip you need to be in a normal good shape and you will face some challenges. Not extreme but it can be out of your comfort zone at times. The hikes are usually 3-6 hours (excluding some stops), but terrain can make it sometimes a bit tough. We will walk also hike cross-country without a path.
EXPERIENCE
You need some basic experience to join this trip. Your previous experience should include hiking with a backpack, sleeping in tents, fire making and outdoor cooking. Contact us if you have any doubts or questions.
COMFORT ZONE
Everybody has a comfort zone and it always differs from the comfort zone of other people. It is a personal thing. Being in wild nature away from civilization is adventurous, but can also cause stress or might scare you a bit occasionally. These feelings are natural and not a problem. Just be open and share things or ask questions. They say life starts at the end of your comfort zone. We believe that this is very true.

REMARKS
THE ARCTIC
Remember we are in the Arctic and here the weather rules. There is no day-to-day itinerary, only short term plans are realistic. We make our decisions on what is possible and when to do it based on weather forecast and conditions. Of course we love to hear your ideas and wishes. And we do our best to make it happen. A bit flexible mindset is a good thing to have here in northern Norway.

THE ROUGH PLAN OF THIS research trip
Here is the rough plan for the research trip to the Rago National Park in Arctic Norway and its surroundings. The objectives are to find new routes, new camp sites and other interesting spots (great views, waterfalls, old remains of buildings and much more). In the evenings, there is time to relax, cook good food, have time for yourself and enjoy nature. Our guides will also busy with documenting the results. During this trip you can learn a lot of outdoor skills if you are interested in that. Take a look at the rough plan below and remember we may have to rearrange the program because of weather forecasts or other circumstances.
PICK-UP We pick you up by car in Bodø and brief you about the rough plan for the coming days and our first destination Rago National Park. To reach the park takes 2 hours of awesome road tripping. We make a basecamp at a great spot near the entrance of the National Park where we make dinner in the outdoors and where we sleep the first night.
EXPLORING AND RESEARCHING RAGO Rago National Park offers pure wilderness, incredible scenery, wild rivers, thundering waterfalls, impressive mountains and a great canyon to explore. We will hike some of the famous trails in the park and do some cross-country hiking through areas where there is no path. Next to that we will do some research hikes in for us new territory. We overnight in tents and, if available, a remote cabin probably. Of course, we try to spot wildlife, and during your stay in Rago, you can try your luck at catching trout. There is enough time to relax to enjoy nature, to fish or to do some photography.
RESEARCHING SØRFOLDA At a short distance of the Rago National Park there is an area named Sørfolda and our objective is to explore some new trails that lead to great lakes and scenic valleys. Here we will try to find sites to camp, rivers that are nice for crossings and find some routes that takes us higher in the mountains.
CAVE RESEARCH We will travel futher north to the municipality of Fauske and visiting an area where we find a huge cave that we like to explore. The cave is not technically complicated and there are no ropes involved and no narrow passages. We probably do some photo and video shooting here. Another objective is to find new spots for basecamps (near to a wild river probably).
