Three national parks expedition (AUGUST)
expeditions
In this new expedition, we take you to three national parks in the north of Norway just above the Arctic Circle. We plan to explore three vast nature areas to hike and snowshoe through stunning winter landscapes. This is an adventurous trip and a great choice if you like to discover remote areas and experience the Arctic silence. In the Rago National Park, we follow a wild river upstream and icy surroundings. In the Sjunkhatten National Park, we wander through a valley with numerous lakes surrounded by mountains. In the Saltfjellet National Park, we explore some trails through snow-covered areas with our snowshoes. We might use our kayaks to paddle a fjord. During this expedition, we drive small roads through stunning landscapes. This expedition is a great choice if you are attracted to a tough trip in more remote areas.

LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE
LEVEL
For this trip you need to be in a good shape and you will face some challenges. Not extreme but it can be out of your comfort zone at times. The hikes are usually 3-5 hours (excluding some stops), but terrain can make it tough. Often we will walk cross-country without a path, especially when there is snow. The most demanding period is November-April.
EXPERIENCE
You need some basic experience to join this trip. Your previous experience should include hiking with a backpack, sleeping in tents, fire making and outdoor cooking. If kayaking is new to you, then we will teach you the things you need to know. No worries!
Everybody has a comfort zone and it always differs from the comfort zone of other people. It is a personal thing. Being in wild nature away from civilization is adventurous, but can also cause stress or might scare you a bit occasionally. These feelings are natural and not a problem. Just be open and share things or ask questions. They say life starts at the end of your comfort zone. We believe that this is very true.

REMARKS
THE ARCTIC
Remember we are in the Arctic and here the weather rules. There is no day-to-day itinerary, only short term plans are realistic. We make our decisions on what is possible and when to do it based on weather forecast and conditions. Of course we love to hear your ideas and wishes. And we do our best to make it happen. A bit flexible mindset is a good thing to have here in northern Norway.

THE ROUGH PLAN OF THIS EXPEDITION
We pick you up by car in Bodø, discuss the rough plan for the coming days and choose our first destination (one of the parks). Our decision will be based on weather forecasts and local temperatures. The road trips during this expedition are very scenic and include drives through mountainous areas. It will take more or less 2 hours to reach one of the parks. We will stay around two days on one spot to minimize time lost to logistics and set up or break down of camps. In this time of year, days are long, and we can plan our activities 24/24 hours. If hiking is new to you, we will teach you the basics. In the evenings there is time to relax, cook good food, have time for yourself, sit around a fire and try to observe nature. During daytime, we keep our eyes open to spot wildlife like moose, reindeer, foxes and sea-eagles. If we have the the right conditions, we might launch our kayaks for some paddling in a nearby fjord. At the end of the trip, we bring you back to Bodø.
